In an era of medical misinformation, false data and unsourced recommendations on health are shared wide and fast via social media.1 Medical practitioners and communication specialists now have an additional responsibility to ensure concise and valid information is readily available, and prevent the wide dissemination of misleading information.2
The Stanford Center for Health Education, a part of Stanford Medicine, aims to help professionals meet these demands through the Health Communication: Strategies for Impact and Success online short course. In six weeks, you’ll develop fundamental skills to facilitate effective communication about health and science. With strategies and techniques that build strong and trusting relationships, you’ll become equipped to communicate accurate health information in a range of contexts and with broad audiences. You’ll gain practical tools to enhance your health communication skills, navigate challenging conversations, and manage media interactions. Through an understanding of the health information ecosystem, you’ll be able to identify the validity of facts, ultimately, becoming a reputable health information provider.
